Memo: New web page for AMFA Members on Legal Affairs
Updated On: Aug 21, 2019
New Web Page For AMFA Members Only About Legal Affairs
Many of you know from my August 8 update about the failure to reach agreement with Southwest Airlines in mediation that we hoped would have ended all of the federal litigation between AMFA, some of its current and former officers, and the company. AMFA must now defend itself from two separate federal lawsuits by Southwest against its own Mechanics and Inspectors filed before we reached agreement on the new contract.
Because your interests are at stake, and your dues money is being spent, the Association is revising its communications practice to better inform you of legal matters such as this, going forward. To do that, one change I am announcing today is the creation of a new web page within the AMFA National web site called “Legal Updates (Members Only).”
Importantly, this new page will be private and just for AMFA members in good standing. Only AMFA members with an approved private login and password to the National Website and those whom the Association, in its sole discretion, determines to extend access to, or continues to, and persons serving the interests of the Association, will be able to access the new Legal Updates page.
This new, members-only page will be the place where news, updates, postings and the like about anything legal that affects you or your union will be found, going forward.
We had a long battle to secure the contract that you wanted, deserved, and ratified in overwhelming numbers. Now that management has rejected our attempts to end these lawsuits with no penalty to the Company we must make changes that will secure you and your Union in the coming fight. This is one, Please stay informed, united, and dedicated to your job. The lives of the flying public depend on it every day.
