AMFA Leads Effort to Encourage the White House to Recognize the Importance of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – May 24, 2019 – The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) joined several labor and industry groups to encourage President Trump to officially recognize Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Day, May 24 (read letter here). AMFA also galvanized support from members of Congress to formally recognize AMT Day on floor of the

U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.

AMFA National Director Bret Oestreich stated, “On behalf of AMFA members and members of our craft, we are proud of the AMT’s, also known as aircraft mechanics, who use their skill and integrity each and every day to maintain our country’s aircraft.

“The AMT works tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the flying American public, and in many cases these men and women do so while working odd hours, weekends, and holidays in all types of inclement weather. They take the responsibility to provide a safe aircraft to heart, and strive to maintain the trust of the flying public.

“We are pleased that so many groups supported our efforts, and offer a hearty thank you to Senator Duckworth and Congressman Larsen for their work in acknowledging the AMT on our special day. In addition, a special thank you to the Aerospace Maintenance Council, who we worked with closely to accomplish this letter.”
